The UEFA Europa League reached its final stage this Thursday, April 5 with the two second leg semifinals. Eintracht Frankfurt defeated West Ham at home and Rangers eliminated RB Leipzig also at home. Thus, both teams qualified for the grand final of the tournament.
The final of the European championship will take place next Wednesday, May 18 at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium in the city of Seville. Since the tournament changed its name (the defunct UEFA Cup), there have only been three non-Spanish teams that have lifted the trophy and none of them were German or Scottish.
Frankfurt became champion in 1980 after defeating Borussia Mönchengladbach, while Rangers were runners-up in 2008 after losing to Zenit St. Petersburg. Many years later, one of these two institutions will be able to win the major prize.

The Gers have also had a tough time throughout the Europa League and have played one more game than Frankfurt, as they finished second in the group stage. First, they eliminated Borussia Dortmund, then Estrella Roja, then Braga, and in the semifinals, another favorite, RB Leipzig, so they could surprise everyone.
