The results of recent years in the top category seem to be coming to an end. And it is that Bernie Ecclestone, the strong man of Formula 1, expressed his annoyance through controversial statements on the Canadian radio station TSN, where he accuses Ferrari and Mercedes of deceiving their customer teams.
"Mercedes supplies engines to four teams and obviously supplies the smaller teams with engines that have much less power than the ones used by their own team. Ferrari supplies engines to three teams in exactly the same way. The other teams receive engines that are not as good as theirs," declares Ecclestone, denouncing that both have created a duopoly that practically nullifies the competition, since the rest of the engine manufacturers (Honda and Renault) have not been up to par.
"What we actually have is Mercedes and Ferrari competing against each other. There used to be equality that we don't have now, so we have to do something about it. We have to make the engines much simpler so that another manufacturer can enter and supply teams," concluded the president and chief executive officer of Formula One Management and Formula One Administration.
