Just over three months are missing for the opening of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Therefore, the governor of the city, Yuriko Koike, and the vice president of the organizing committee, Toshiaki Endo, presented the tournament's mascots.
During a privately held event between the Tokyo government building and the summit of Mount Takao, the statues of the rings and the mascots Miraitowa (Olympics) and Someity (Paralympics) were presented.
At the mascots unveiling ceremony, the swimmer Junichi Miyashita, winner of the bronze medal in Beijing 2008, was also present. The exhibition will remain closed due to the increase in COVID-19 cases.
PUBLIC ATTENDANCE NOT YET CONFIRMED IN COMPETITIONS
However, the statues will be exhibited in iconic locations such as the Tokyo government building, Yoyogi and Ueno parks, or Mount Mitake. It is worth noting that the organizers have not yet confirmed if there will be public attendance during the competitions.
