The best athletes in Bosnia-Herzegovina for 2020
The Bosnian midfielder of Barcelona, Miralem Pjanic, was named on Monday the best athlete of Bosnia-Herzegovina in 2020, in a traditional election organized by the public radio and television BiH and the newspaper "Nezavisne novine".
Among the athletes, the best was the basketball player Marica Gajic, now playing for the Spanish team Perfumería Avenida.
Pjanic was chosen as the best athlete in the year he won the fourth championship title with Italian Juventus, his previous club, before signing with Barcelona.
"I had a successful season with Juventus, and the move to Barcelona crowns my career, it's something phenomenal," Pjanic said in a video intervention to thank for the title.
"This will be an additional reason for me to work better and be an example for our children in Bosnia-Herzegovina, so that they can one day be part of the national team and the best clubs in the world," he said.
He assured that the athlete of the year title "will have a special place" in his home.
Gajic, on the other hand, shone this year with the Bosnian national team, and with Perfumería Avenida she won the Spanish Supercup and plays in the Euroleague.
"This year has been successful, and I hope the next one will be even more," said Gajic.
"We move forward, we will do everything possible to bring joy to our fans," she said, confident in Bosnia-Herzegovina's qualification for the European Championship.
The titles are awarded by a jury made up of athletes, representatives of sports associations, and sports journalists. EFE
