The Minister of Health, Pilar Mazzetti, described as "not feasible" that the match between the Peruvian National Team and their Argentine counterpart for the 4th round of the South American Qualifiers cannot be held with an audience at the National Stadium in Lima, as requested by the Peruvian Football Federation to the Executive.

As you may recall, the Peruvian Football Federation sent a letter to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers requesting that the Peru vs Argentina match on November 17th be allowed to have a maximum of 5,000 people at the Lima colossus, complying with strict biosecurity protocols to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

At the time, the President of the Council of Ministers, Walter Martos, expressed his desire for the match towards the Qatar 2022 World Cup to be played with the support of the national team's fans, but that everything would depend on the evolution of the pandemic in our country during those dates, and that he would therefore submit the request to the Ministry of Health.

Precisely, the Minister of Health, Pilar Mazzetti, did not support this request due to the possibility of a second wave of COVID-19 infections in Peru. In this regard, she stated on Canal N:

"We do not agree. Probably our opinion may not be to the majority's liking. I understand that. We would like to resume our activities, but at this time, this type of activity is not prudent. They have asked for our opinion in the Council of Ministers, and we have expressed that it is not feasible."

These statements by the Minister of Health could be a call to the Executive not to give the green light to the proposal of the Peruvian Football Federation to play the Peru vs Argentina match in Lima on Tuesday, November 17th at 7:30 pm (Peruvian time), which would mean that, as happened in the match against Brazil, the National Stadium would only be decorated with motivational panels for Ricardo Gareca's team, which currently has one point in the standings of the Qualifiers.
