Plaza Colonia suffers another defeat in the Uruguayan Apertura Tournament
The Plaza Colonia was looking to turn the score around in the match against Deportivo Maldonado, however, an own goal led them to another defeat in the Uruguayan Apertura Tournament.
Right-back Agustín Sant'Anna opened the scoring for Deportivo Maldonado at the 13th minute of the first half, while Plaza Colonia equalized at the 16th minute of the second half through midfielder Álvaro Fernández.
The team led by Matías Rosa pushed forward to try to comeback, but a serious mistake by Ignacio González caused the defeat of the green and whites in the match played on the ninth matchday of the Uruguayan tournament.
'Nacho' González tried to pass the ball to goalkeeper Luis Cartés from about 60 meters. The midfielder was confident that the goalkeeper would control the ball, but the strength and direction of the shot worked against him and the action ended up as a spectacular own goal.
