MEXICO -- The CAS reduced the suspension against former FC Juarez player, Gabriel Hachen, who was penalized after assaulting the referee in the friendly match between Bravos and the Autonomous University of Chihuahua on January 4 as part of the border team's preseason. The Argentinian footballer was sanctioned by the Mexican Football Federation with a one-year ban and a fine, a period of time that was questioned by the international organization towards the FMF, according to Diario AM.

"In the ruling in favor of Hachen by the CAS, it is argued that in the FIFA Punishment Regulations, the minimum punishment for assaulting a referee is 15 games, so the minimum penalty was five times more severe than that provided in the FMF Regulations," an argument which led to reducing the one-year suspension to seven months. In addition to this point, the former FC Juarez player never exhibited violent behavior, so he considered the punishment imposed by the FMF to be excessive.

On August 15, former FC Juarez player, Gabriel Hachen, will be able to return to the field after nearly seven months of inactivity. The player no longer belongs to FC Juarez after the suspension, so he will seek to return to the field with another team.
