After Cerro Porteño announced the departure of Sergio Díaz and Raúl Zapag partly blamed Jani Delmás, the player's agent shared his side of the story on Wednesday in an interview with Fútbol a lo Grande on radio Monumental.
According to the club's president, Delmás' actions were, at the very least, unprofessional and affected the interests of Cerro Porteño. The president stated that Cerro and Real Madrid had everything ready to extend the player's loan.
"I didn't have any meetings or contact with the president, but I did speak with a board member of Cerro. They made me an offer lower than the current one, lower than what the player was receiving," Delmás responded. According to his account, he had made it clear that the negotiation was contingent on an offer from abroad.
"I don't know if the president is aware of this, but I made it clear that we could continue negotiating, even reach an economic agreement, but it would all depend on that offer from abroad," he emphasized.
At another point, when asked about Sergio Díaz's destination, the agent confirmed that it is indeed Mexican football, but he refused to disclose the name of the club.
