Carlos Beltrán knows that there are good players in his position, but he is confident in being able to earn a spot.

Carlos Beltran, 29-year-old midfielder for Alianza Lima, stated that he has two goals for the 2020 season: to win the title with Alianza Lima and earn a spot in the Peruvian national team.

"My goal is to be fighting for the title with Alianza and win it by the end of the year. I would like to have an opportunity in the national team, I know that there are players of great level in my position, but I believe that I can compete," he told ESPN.

For Carlos Beltran's position in midfield, coach Ricardo Gareca normally calls up Renato Tapia and Pedro Aquino. He has also called up Wilder Cartagena, Carlos Ascues, and Armando Alfageme. Beltran faces tough competition to be considered by Gareca.

In another part of the interview, Carlos Beltran chose the best coaches of his career. "First of all, I put Pepe Soto for how much he helped me as a professional, especially in terms of morale," he said.

"Pablo Bengoechea helped me mature in the short time he was with me at Alianza. Cominges, whom I had for three months at Cienciano, he's a great guy. Juan Reynoso is a great coach in Peru, even though things didn't end well with him," Beltran concluded.
