LaLiga reports five asymptomatic cases of COVID-19 in football players

LaLiga reported that five cases of asymptomatic positives for COVID-19 have been detected in first and second division football teams, once the medical tests on the minimum necessary staff referred by the clubs to start training have been completed.

All cases, asymptomatic and in the final phase of the disease, are unknown to LaLiga in compliance with the Organic Data Protection Law. This aggregated data has been transferred to the Sports Higher Council (CSD) and the Ministry of Health.

One of the objectives of these medical tests, in accordance with the LaLiga protocol for returning to training that includes the recommendations of the CSD and the Ministry of Health, was precisely to detect the so-called asymptomatic individuals, that is, those people who are infected and who, without showing symptoms, can infect others.

In this way, the safety of everyone is guaranteed when returning to work in accordance with occupational risk regulations.

As planned, according to the organization, the next steps with people who have tested positive for COVID-19 are:

1. Stay in quarantine at their homes, performing the same individual physical activity they have been doing up to now, following the club's instructions.

2. In the coming days, they will be tested again for COVID-19, and after obtaining two negative results, they will be able to join training sessions at their club's facilities.

3. In addition, LaLiga will offer the possibility of conducting detection tests to the people living with those affected.

LaLiga will continue to apply the protocol for returning to training, approved by the CSD and the Ministry of Health, in order to ensure the maximum safety of all players, coaching staff, and club employees.

LaLiga has warned all participants in the training sessions not to relax the recommended health measures, both in sports facilities, at home, and during walks they may take with their surroundings, in order to maintain this low number of affected individuals.
