Christian Cueva and Yoshimar Yotún had a dialogue via Instagram Live where they shared anecdotes from their careers as football players and memories they had together, such as in the 2018 World Cup, where they were part of the Peruvian National Team.
One episode they could not overlook was the match against Denmark, in the national team's debut in the tournament. Christian Cueva was the protagonist of that match, being in charge of taking the penalty kick against the European team. His shot was saved, Peru lost 1-0, and the midfielder was heavily criticized. The events of that day came back to his mind.
"Speaking of the penalty, believe me when I say this because I would like to have that opportunity again. I know it will come, because I am convinced that we can be in a World Cup, whoever has to play, knowing that no one is guaranteed, but always feeling part of it. I swear I would like to face that again, not with the intention of revenge, but with the desire for a new opportunity," admitted Cueva.
However, despite the situation he had to experience, Christian Cueva stated that that match of the Peruvian National Team was the best moment of his career.
"The anthem in the World Cup against Denmark, as an athlete, was the best thing I experienced. I have many lessons from that day," he pointed out.
