For the cuencana, the decision of the Astillero is an "excuse".

For Cuencan Mayta Vásconez,

a World Cup player in 2015 and enrolled at Boca Juniors since last December, the decision of Barcelona and Emelec (and as of yesterday also Guayaquil City) not to play the Copa Ecuador in 2020 and no other national tournament "parallel" to the one organized by the Professional League, including the women's super league "because it would be very risky for the health and well-being of everyone", is an "excuse".

On social media, the player posted: "The excuse is to 'preserve health', but are they going to participate in LigaPro? The excuse is 'solvency risk', but with the salary of a player, they could pay the entire women's squad. Women football players also have a family, they also need income, they also have to eat!"

Open letter. Women's football must be treated with respect, it is not the time to take advantage of such a difficult situation that the world is experiencing to dismiss thousands of players, coaching staff, and other involved. God willing, this will pass and we will return to the field.

In her Twitter account, 29-year-old Vásconez demands that "women's football must be treated with respect. It is not the time to take advantage of such a difficult situation that the world is experiencing to dismiss thousands of players, coaching staff, and other involved. God willing, this will pass and we will return to the field."

In her open letter, she urges that "the women's super league be held (in the country) when the National COE (Emergency Operations Committee) deems it appropriate."

Vásconez called the positions of the Astillero "empty proposals that harm the integrity of women's sports" and asks for them to be "dismissed". (D)
