Welcome decision to postpone the Tokyo Games

The FIFA welcomed and expressed support for the IOC's decision to postpone the Tokyo Games to next year, prioritizing the health of those involved in sports.

"The FIFA family believes that the health and well-being of all individuals involved in sports should always be the highest priority. Therefore, we welcome today's decision by the IOC," said the organization after the date change was confirmed.

In its initial response to EFE, FIFA added that "beyond the IOC's decision, FIFA will work with stakeholders to address all aspects related to rescheduling the Games in the calendar."
