Tottenham advances to the next round of the Cup after a thrilling match against Southampton

The 'Spurs' had to go to the 'replay' after a 1-1 draw on Southampton's field, and in a back and forth match, they secured their spot in the next round of the Cup.

Mourinho's team took the lead eleven minutes in when an anticipated shot by Tanguy Ndombele deflected off Jack Stephens, fooled the Southampton goalkeeper, and went into the net.

The 'Saints', with Oriol Romeu as a starter, didn't give up and were better than Tottenham for practically the rest of the match.

Danny Ings hit the crossbar before the comeback from the 'Saints'. First, Shane Long took advantage of a loose ball left by Hugo Lloris, and then Ings, with a curved shot towards one post, surprised Tottenham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Lucas Moura equalized twelve minutes before the end with a well-placed shot from outside the box. With penalties looming, Heung-min Son defeated Southampton.

The South Korean drew the winning penalty for Tottenham. Angus Gunn collided with him, and Son himself scored it, establishing the final score of 3-2.

Tottenham will face Norwich City in the round of sixteen, which will take place in the first week of March.
