Novak Djokovic wins Paris-Bercy Masters 1000 for the fourth time

Serbian Novak Djokovic won the Paris-Bercy Masters 1000 for the fourth time on Sunday by defeating British Andy Murray in the final with scores of 6-2 and 6-4.

With this victory, he becomes the first player to win the Paris tournament four times and the first to win six Masters 1000 tournaments in the same year: Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo, Rome, Shanghai, and Paris-Bercy.

It was a disappointing final because Djokovic's dominance was total, just like it has been throughout the season. Djokovic made Murray run throughout the entire match and won almost all the long rallies. The Scottish player, deprived of initiative in the game, made too many mistakes (34 compared to 12 of his opponent).

In the first set, Djokovic broke Murray's serve in the third and seventh games to win the set comfortably with a score of 6-2. In the second set, he again broke Murray's serve at the start, but the Scottish player had a timid reaction to equalize 2-2. However, it was a false hope as Djokovic took the initiative in the next game.

The world number one thus adds his tenth title of an exceptional season, with three Grand Slam titles (Australian Open, Wimbledon, and US Open), six Masters 1000 titles, and only five defeats throughout the year, one of them being the Roland Garros final against Swiss Stan Wawrinka.

With these credentials, Djokovic will enter the Masters tournament as the absolute favorite, which will bring together the top eight players of the year in London starting on November 15, where he could win his fifth title in the Tournament of Champions.
