Real Madrid Uses Green Third Kit in Support of COP25
The Real Madrid football team will wear their third kit, which is green in color, in their match against Espanyol this Saturday (7:00 a.m.) at Santiago Bernabeu as a show of support for the climate summit taking place in the Spanish capital.
"This initiative is part of the club's support for the Green Castellana action and the 25th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP25)," the club stated on its website.
This is a notable event since Real Madrid usually wears white in their home games and it also marks the official debut of this kit in a competitive match. The team, led by Zinedine Zidane, has only used it so far in a pre-season match against Red Bull Salzburg, which ended with a goal by Eden Hazard, the Belgian player who joined the Madrid team.
Last Tuesday, Madrid already joined COP25 by installing an ecological canvas measuring 35.77x19.60 meters on the main façade of Santiago Bernabeu. The canvas has an ecological treatment that, with daylight, converts pollution and dirt into water vapor and salt, while eliminating bacteria. It will remain in place until the climate summit ends on December 13. EFE
