Paul Velez wants to play his second final, this time with Macara.

The Ecuadorian's first final was in 2009, when he was coaching Deportivo Cuenca.

The Ecuadorian's first final was in 2009, when he was coaching Deportivo Cuenca.

The mentality of the players, coaching staff, leaders, and fans of Macará is to overcome the match against Delfín that will be played on Saturday from 16:00 at the Bellavista stadium with the purpose of competing in the final against the winning team of the match between Liga de Quito and Aucas, for which the Ambato idol has to overcome the Cetáceo team with a goal difference.

In Thursday's practice at La Providencia complex, Macará head coach Paúl Vélez commented that his desire is to coach a Ecuadorian championship final for the second time. He recalled that the first time was in 2009 with Deportivo Cuenca against Deportivo Quito, on that occasion he was the runner-up.

The Ecuadorian strategist is grateful to God because he says he has blessed the team throughout the year, which is why he even considers it as the special player. He also stated that if he reaches the final, this will be the best season as head coach.

He highlighted that since he started (his coaching career) in 2008, he has had some successes with his team because in 2009, 2012, 2018, and 2019 he was chosen as the best coach in the country, which he considers something very beautiful and special, which would complement if he gets to play the final.

Vélez said that the mood depends on the opponent he has to play against, that he was more nervous when he had to face Emelec because he knew what the team from Guayaquil means, but this time before the match against Delfín, what he feels is anxiety because without disregarding the Manabita team, he knows that there are teams that are superior to Macará and also those that are equal, that the Cetáceo team is one of them, and that is why he knows that anything can happen and if he plays at home he is convinced that his team can reach the final.

However, he clarified that he is concerned about Delfín as when they faced Fuerza Amarilla or América, but his brain sends him waves of good or bad vibes according to the opponent he is going to face or according to what he feels, and in that sense, he has the feeling that they will reach the final.

César Mercado replaces Alejandro Manchot who is serving his second suspension match against Delfín in Bellavista, in this regard, the defender expressed satisfaction with the performance he had in Manta and said that they are aware that they are one step away from the final, for which they have to come out and propose the match in order to make a difference in the first half.
