Francisco Pizarro to take charge of Alianza Lima
This won't be the first time Francisco Pizarro has taken on the role of coach for Alianza Lima. After the departure of Gustavo Roverano, the former goalkeeper will once again lead the team.
A successful stint in 2013
In 2013, Pizarro had the opportunity to coach Alianza Lima after Wilmar Valencia's resignation, and he performed well. Pizarro worked alongside Martín Quintero and Miguel Ángel Arrué, and led the team to qualify for the Copa Sudamericana.

A successful run
Pizarro coached for nine matches between October and November in the league and managed four wins, four draws, and only one loss. Some members of the Alianza Lima team at that time were Walter Ibáñez, Henry Quinteros, Wilmer Aguirre, Junior Ponce, Mauro Guevgeozián, among others.
A rocky start and a comeback
His debut was an away match against César Vallejo, which ended in a heavy defeat in Trujillo. However, he then had a streak of three consecutive wins that put the team back in the title race.
Narrow miss for the title
However, Alianza Lima drew with Cristal at Matute, which diminished their chances, as they then had a series of draws.
