WWE fans hold great affection for the characters that have grown within the company. One of the most beloved, despite his villainous (heel) personality, is Adam Copeland, better known as Edge. "The Rated-R Superstar" stopped wrestling in 2011 due to a neck injury, but according to rumors, his return for one last match is very close.
The media outlet PWInsider has claimed that the four-time WWE champion and seven-time Heavyweight champion is in talks with doctors to be medically cleared and offer one last match in the ring.
"WWE Hall of Fame member Adam 'Edge' Copeland was in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania today, for, according to what we have been told, 'WWE-related business'. There has been a lot of talk lately about Copeland's return to the ring for special appearances, but Copeland seems to have shot down the rumors on Twitter. And then, today, he was in Pittsburgh, where WWE's top doctor Joseph Maroon is based."
At SummerSlam 2019, Edge made a comeback in WWE and delivered a spear to Elias, causing a frenzy among the fans. Days after that appearance, the wrestler would start campaigning for his return: "To be honest, I think I could have a new match tomorrow. I could fully explode and be fine. The only thing is, I know WWE's medical staff wouldn't allow me."
AEW is also an option!
Well, if WWE's doctors don't approve it, there is still an equally massive option to return to the rings: AEW. Tony Khan's company and The Elite would seek to enter the discussion for his return if Vince McMahon doesn't allow him to wrestle.
It is worth remembering that Edge retired from the company due to injuries that endangered his life. He often returns as a spectator to live events, but we haven't seen him in the ring again until now.
