Simon Spilak (Katusha) is the winner of a Vuelta a Suiza that was decided in an exciting final time trial of 38 kilometers in Berna. The Slovenian performed a great time trial and finished second in this last stage, where the winner was the same as in the first one, the Dutch specialist of Giant, Tom Dumoulin. Even Fabian Cancellara, another favorite for the best time, was only one second behind.
The big loser of the day was the Frenchman Thibaut Pinot. The one from FDJ, who usually suffers a lot in this specialty, showed from the first references that he would have a hard time keeping the leader's jersey with which he contested this last stage (with a 34" advantage over Thomas and 47" over Spilak). In the end, he lost 1:50 to Dumoulin and finished fourth overall in a race where, in general terms, he left a good impression in preparation for the Tour. The lack of kilometers against the clock in the French race benefit him a lot, as demonstrated this Sunday.
British Sky's Geraint Thomas was in the fight until the end, finishing in the second step of the podium, just five seconds behind Spilak. The best Spaniard in the race was Daniel Moreno (Katusha), finishing 16th overall.
