Three goals from Lautaro Martínez and a well-taken penalty by Leandro Paredes were enough for the team of coach Lionel Scaloni to secure a comfortable victory at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, in a span of 24 minutes.

In the first 10 minutes, the Mexicans had the ball with the consent of the Argentinians who, without several of their best players, waited to launch a counterattack.

In the 15th minute, José Manuel Corona sent a ball to Héctor Herrera, who was late, and in the 16th minute, Hirving Lozano shot a ball cleared by Boca Juniors' goalkeeper Esteban Andrada.

From there, Argentina began its dance against the Mexican defense; in the 17th minute, Martínez shot with his left foot to make it 1-0, after Néstor Araujo lost the ball, and in the 22nd minute, Martínez accepted a pass from Exequiel Palacios and touched the ball with his left foot past goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa to extend the lead.

Lautaro fought for the ball with Carlos Salcedo, who committed a handball in the area and Leandro Paredes converted the penalty in the 31st minute; 3-0.

Araujo left another loose ball and Martínez displayed his predatory instinct in the box and scored with a shot in the 39th minute.

Mexico did not have any shots on goal in the first half, partly due to the good defense of Lionel Scaloni's team, which, with five midfielders, prevented the advancement of the Mexicans from the borders of the penalty area.

In the second half, Argentina slowed the pace but remained organized at the back, not leaving any spaces for the Mexicans, who came close to receiving the fifth blow in the 51st minute when Paolo Dybala, who came on as a substitute for Lautaro Martínez, shot from long range, a shot well cleared by Guillermo Ochoa.

Mexico's best player was their goalkeeper. In the 80th minute, Ochoa saved a shot from Rodrigo de Paul, and Mexico was saved once again.

When the final whistle blew, in the 93rd minute, Hirving Lozano took the only shot on goal for Mexico, deflected by Andrada.

It was Argentina's 15th victory in 31 matches against Mexico, with 12 draws and four losses.
