Peruvian national team players undecided about their future

After the participation of the Peruvian national team in the 2019 Copa America, the players of the team have remained in their clubs and others have not yet defined their future, such as Miguel Trauco, Luis Advincula, Andre Carrillo, and Edison Flores.

Facing this situation, former Peruvian national team forward, Flavio Maestri, engaged in a heated debate with journalist Eddie Fleischman on Fox Sports Radio Peru. The former forward, now sports commentator, stated that if he were a "manager of Peruvian players, they would all be playing in Europe".

This statement by Flavio Maestri was a response to the comment made by Fleischman, who argued that some Peruvian footballers do not have enough "quality" to play in a top league in world football.

"Flamengo doesn't have two steaks in their eyes to take Miguel Trauco. Why did they sign him? So he is a good player. You said he doesn't have quality", expressed the popular 'Tank'.

"They are players who have quality, but that quality is not enough for one of the top five leagues in the world", quickly responded Fleischman.

"Ruidiaz has enough talent to be the difference-maker, the top scorer in Mexican football, and you say he doesn't have enough to go to Europe. For you, Peruvian football doesn't have quality. It's clear because you always say they don't perform well, this one is bad, he doesn't have quality, that's what you're practically saying", added Maestri.

Maestri as a player agent?

In the midst of the debate, Eddie Fleischman insisted that the Peruvian player still lacks something to make that big leap that everyone wishes for. In response, Maestri said this phrase, which seconds later was taken with humor by both.

"I don't know why players don't make the leap. Look, if I were a player agent, they would all be playing in Europe", expressed Maestri. Fleischman's response was in the same tone as his program partner's: "Well, then you should become a player agent".

"No, I'm fine here unless I have to leave. If you don't want me here, I can become a player agent. If I represent journalists, I'll starve to death", Maestri concluded, causing laughter from those present.
