The debut match of Universitario de Deportes in the Clausura Tournament took place at the Monumental stadium, but this time, the team couldn't make their home advantage count as they only sold 2,158 tickets.
The club administrator from Ate, Carlos Moreno, addressed this issue in an interview with radio Ovación and asked all the fans to support the club.
"I can see that in general, there were few spectators in this first match. Proof of this was the match between Sport Boys and Alianza Lima in Callao that was also not full," said the administrator of 'U'.
"I believe that the main factor has been that people are still not reengaging with the tournament, although in our case, it could also be the match time, a situation that we will evaluate. But we also ask the fans that, just like they demand from us, they support the club by being present," he continued.
It is worth noting that Universitario de Deportes started the Clausura with a favorable result. The team managed to turn the match around against Unión Comercio and finished with a 2-1 score. Now, the merengues will face Pirata FC in Olmos. The match is scheduled for Sunday, July 21st at 4:00 p.m.
