Colombian forward Radamel Falcao assured that his team is leaving "with discouragement" from the 2018 Russia World Cup, he considered the refereeing they faced against England "a disgrace" and promised to come back "stronger".
"We leave with discouragement, but Colombia will come back stronger," said the football player in the official television networks of the competition, after Colombia was eliminated in the round of 16 of the World Cup against England in the penalty shootout.
In subsequent statements to the media, Falcao was very critical of the refereeing by American Mark Geiger.
"It seemed particular to me that they put an American referee who had been suspended in this match. That generated many doubts. Also, he only spoke English, there was a certain bias," he said.
"Through small faults, he was pushing us into our own area. It was clear that in doubt, he always blew for England, this is a disgrace," he said.
Falcao assured that in these difficult moments the whole team is united.
"We are professionals, we are together, the whole team lost, all the players have to leave with their heads held high because for 120 minutes we fought a lot," he said.
The Monaco player said he is leaving "calm because everything was given, but with the bitterness of elimination".
