The World Cup adventure has ended. The Peruvian National Team lost 1-0 against France and bid farewell to Russia 2018, after suffering its second consecutive defeat.
Ricardo Gareca, coach of the Peruvian National Team, spoke in a press conference after the match against the European team.
"We had other expectations, but in my assessment, the team gave everything they had on the field. There is one more match and we have to overcome it for the people who came. I have nothing to reproach the boys for. They left a positive image," commented Ricardo Gareca.
Furthermore, the 'Tigre' referred to the performance of the Peruvian National Team against their Danish counterparts, stating that their opponents beat them fair and square.
"We went out to win both matches, but we faced opponents who deservedly beat us. Overall, the team gave their all, had control of the game, and had opportunities that they couldn't convert," said the coach.
Finally, Ricardo Gareca spoke about what lies ahead for the Peruvian National Team and showed optimism for the upcoming prospects.
"Beyond expectations, competing at this level will serve us a lot. Peru, looking towards the future, is a team that can improve greatly," concluded the coach.
