Héctor Herrera broke his silence for the first time since some pictures of him at a party with members of the Mexican National Team before traveling to Europe surfaced. The midfielder, who was celebrating the victory against Germany, said that what he experienced in the previous days only made him stronger.
"As a footballer, you are exposed to these situations and the past few days were difficult, but that is something that makes me stronger and up till now, I've always said that only death will defeat me and that hasn't happened, so we have to enjoy this passion and this sport that I love and will never stop loving," he said in an interview with TV Azteca.
The Porto player highlighted the different qualities that the Tri had to defeat Germany, the current world champion.
"The team did very well, we started off strong, we were organized and that is something that hadn't gone well for us before. We had to suffer a little and take advantage of the opportunities we had," he analyzed.
One of the most valuable aspects, continued the midfielder, is that it showed that the national team has always been united regardless of circumstances, and that's how they want to continue showing in the upcoming matches.
"The group has always been united and we've said that many times. The whole group has shown it. It's just the beginning and we have to continue like this," he stated.
The victory and his performance, in particular, have a special dedication to the 'Zorro'.
"To my family, to all of Mexico, to those who believed and didn't believe in us; I feel proud to be Mexican and to belong to this group," he pointed out.
