Alianza Lima
Alianza Lima is not doing well in these first few months of the year. It was eliminated from the final of the Summer Tournament, has not been able to perform well at Matute, and left a very poor impression in the Copa Libertadores. On top of that, they suffered a 5-0 defeat against Boca Junior in La Bombonera, prior to their debut in the Apertura Tournament.
"Neither Renzo Rato nor Gustavo Zevallos have asked me for a minimum number of points in these first 6 games," responded Pablo Bengoechea, who is obliged to be a protagonist in the Apertura Tournament with the aim of achieving their aspirations: the national bicampeonato.
"We'll see if in 24 hours we are up to the challenge and have the ability to react," added Bengoechea, after acknowledging that Alianza Lima had a terrible campaign in the Copa Libertadores. They only accumulated one point and scored one goal.
On the other hand, Bengoechea ruled out Kevin Quevedo and Óscar Vílchez for the next match against Sport Rosario, as the players must serve their suspension.
"Cotrina, who was injured in the match against Boca. This afternoon we will train and prepare the team for tomorrow. What happened in the Copa should serve as an experience, but we have the obligation to recover and start the Apertura Tournament in the best way," concluded Pablo Bengoechea.
