Nate Diaz - Rising Star in UFC
Nate Diaz became well-known in the UFC for his unique boxing style and always challenging attitude. And although he made his debut in the octagon in 2007, the American fighter began to dominate the headlines only in 2016, when he achieved an impressive victory over Conor McGregor.
Nate Diaz, who will return to the UFC in August, accepted that first fight against Conor McGregor due to Rafael dos Anjos' injury, the then lightweight champion. But it was a risky decision, as he only had a couple of days to prepare for UFC 196 in Las Vegas.
Although Conor McGregor moved up two weight divisions to fight against Nate Diaz in welterweight (77 kilos), as he was previously the featherweight (66 kilos) champion, the Irishman managed to make a difference with his kicks and powerful punch combinations.
After the first round, Nate Diaz already had a bloody face from Conor McGregor's left-handed punches. But his strong chin and impressive cardio saved him from being knocked out more than once.
In the last two minutes of the second round, Conor McGregor started to run out of oxygen and Nate Diaz began to dominate the exchange of blows. Suddenly, the Irishman attempted an innocent takedown, which was seized by the 'Bad Boy' to secure a flawless rear-naked choke and secure the victory by submission.
