Barcelona's unbeaten streak continues with victory over Valencia

Barcelona extended their unbeaten streak in the Spanish league to 39 consecutive matches, breaking the previous record set by Real Sociedad between 1979 and 1980. The victory came on Saturday as Barcelona defeated Valencia 2-1 at Camp Nou.

With this win, Barcelona has accumulated 82 points, making it the best start in the history of the league. They have remained undefeated after 32 matchdays, just like Real Sociedad did 38 years ago. The challenge now is to become the first team since the 1930s to win the title without a single defeat.

The victory over Valencia at Camp Nou allows Barcelona to forget their European disappointment. Despite winning 4-1 in the first leg, they were eliminated from the Champions League after losing 3-0 to Roma at the Olympic Stadium.

Uruguayan striker Luis Suárez (15) and French defender Samuel Umtiti, both assisted by Brazilian Coutinho, scored the goals for Barcelona. Valencia's captain Dani Parejo (87) reduced the deficit with a penalty, which slipped through the hands of goalkeeper Marc André Ter Stegen.

Barcelona now has a 14-point lead over second-placed Atlético, who will face Levante on Sunday. They are 17 points ahead of Valencia (3rd) and 18 points ahead of Real Madrid (4th), who will also play on Sunday against bottom-ranked Málaga.
