MEXICO - The management of Murciélagos FC announced that they will extend the contract for one more year to Ezequiel 'Cheque' Orozco, who passed away on Friday, March 16th, due to lung cancer.
Through Twitter, the Sinaloa team communicated this decision that is led by owner Miguel Favela.
"Murciélagos is infinitely grateful to 'Cheque' and his family for being part of the club".
At the end of 2016, Orozco retired from the fields due to the disease, but the team continued to pay his contract. In addition, they arranged friendly matches to help with his treatment.
Despite beating Tampico in the tribute match, Murciélagos is relegated to the Premier League, but they will seek to maintain their position administratively.
