Gimnasia's Professional Squad Trains for Match against San Lorenzo
Yesterday, Gimnasia's professional squad trained twice at the Estancia Chica grounds, and Facundo Sava started defining the starting eleven that will face San Lorenzo at El Bosque on Monday at 9:15 p.m. The albiazul coach intends to make two changes: Omar Alderete for Maximiliano Coronel and Facundo Pereyra in place of Matías Dibble.
As previously reported, the coaching staff believes that the team's main deficiency lies in the midfield and forward positions. That's why the exercises carried out yesterday were focused on attack and finishing. Since the start of the year, El Lobo has played four matches and only managed to score goals in the first one, when they defeated Rosario Central 2-1 at home.
Regarding the starting lineup against San Lorenzo, Alderete's inclusion (after serving a one-match suspension following his expulsion in the derby) in place of the suspended Coronel was practically confirmed a few days ago. However, the most surprising news to come out of yesterday's training was that Pereyra seems to be favored over Uruguayan Dibble.
In the first session, a triple tactical exercise was conducted with a three-man defense consisting of Manuel Guanini, Alderete, and Facundo Oreja, indicating that Lucas Licht will not be in the starting lineup. It is worth noting that the historic left back for Gimnasia has not been able to play in official matches so far in 2018 due to an injury suffered in a preseason friendly against Independiente at José María Minella Stadium.
Therefore, the probable lineup that Colorado will field on Monday would be: Alexis Martin Arias; Manuel Guanini, Omar Alderete, and Facundo Oreja; Ezequiel Bonifacio, Fabián Rinaudo, Lorenzo Faravelli, and Nicolás Colazo; Nicolás Dibble, Facundo Pereyra, and Brahian Alemán.
PRACTICE AND PRESS CONFERENCE
Gimnasia's players will train again in the morning at Estancia Chica, where Sava will likely work with the aforementioned starting lineup in preparation for the tough match against San Lorenzo.
After the practice session, around noon, the albiazul coach will hold the usual press conference prior to each Superliga championship match.
