After several months away from the circuit, Kei Nishikori continues to climb positions in his comeback to the highest level.
This time, he defeated Russian Evgeny Donskoy 6-2 and 6-4, to register his first victory over a Top 100 player since last July and advance to the quarterfinals in the ATP 250 of New York.
Nishikori didn't face any break point and only lost seven points on his serve throughout the match, before closing out in just over an hour.
Seventh consecutive victory, also, for the Asian player, who had already won the Challenger title in Dallas, in only his second tournament since returning to action.
In the quarterfinals, the former world No.4 (currently ranked 27th) will face Moldovan Radu Albot, who caused an upset in the day by defeating local John Isner in three sets.
