Claudio Pizarro: Ambassador of Peruvian Football
Admired and criticized, there is no doubt that Claudio Pizarro has become an ambassador of Peruvian football and sports around the world, always representing Peru with pride. This is why the debut of national fighter Humberto Bandenay in the UFC, which he shared on Instagram, is something worth seeing.
Through Instagram, the 'Bombardero', who currently plays for F.C. Cologne in the Bundesliga, expressed his emotions upon witnessing Bandenay's enthusiastic celebration during his first fight in the octagon of the company led by Dana White in August of last year.
On that occasion, the Peruvian fighter knocked out the Mexican Martín Bravo with a powerful knee strike, and in addition to expressing his excitement, he also dedicated heartfelt words to Peru. He even requested a Peruvian flag to wrap himself in it.
Claudio Pizarro relived the moment and shared it on Instagram, writing: "When you live away from your country and see a Peruvian participating in a tournament, winning, and getting emotional like that, it is priceless!!! #vamosperu".
Despite such a promising start, unfortunately Bandenay will not be able to face American fighter Steven Peterson on February 18th in Texas (USA) due to a visa problem that prevents him from being at UFC Fight Night 126.
