The weigh-in ceremony for the UFC's first visit to Perth, Australia took place tonight. There was no official weigh-in in the morning for this event, and fighters will have less than 24 hours to rehydrate before their bouts at UFC 221 this weekend.
After a change in the main event due to a middleweight champion Robert Whittaker's injury, Luke Rockhold and Yoel Romero will now face off in the main event for the interim division title. The American made weight at 185 pounds without any issues, while the Cuban exceeded the limit by a couple of pounds and will have two hours to make weight.
During the faceoff after the weigh-in, Rockhold and Romero had to be separated after shoving and exchanging words.
On the second attempt, Romero weighed in at 187.7 pounds, which makes him ineligible for the interim championship, even if he gets a victory over Rockhold tomorrow.
In the co-main event, heavyweight number five Mark Hunt will face the eighth-seeded Curtis Blaydes. Both fighters weighed in at 265 and 255.5 pounds, respectively.
Mexican fighter José Alberto Quiñónez will be featured in the event, facing Japanese fighter Teruto Ishihara. Quiñónez made weight at 135 pounds, while his opponent weighed in at 135.5.
Australian Rob Wilkinson used a towel to make weight for his fight against Israel Adesanya. Another fighter who used a towel was Jussier Formiga, who weighed in at 126.15 pounds on his first attempt, and made the flyweight limit on his second attempt.
