The Return of Michael Arroyo to Barcelona
Michael Arroyo's return to Barcelona has become a novel. While there is speculation that the Ecuadorian midfielder will be "the surprise" at the team's presentation this Saturday, it is noteworthy that the player has not been called for medical exams or preseason training, despite having "a three-year contract signed," revealed his agent, José Chamorro.
"I have a signed contract from player Michael Arroyo with Barcelona for 3 years. I don't know if the directors no longer want him now," Chamorro said this morning on Caravana radio. "We even have a check delivered (by Barcelona). I am a professional, I handle things seriously, and we must respect the Ecuadorian player," the agent continued.
The president of the canary club, José Francisco Cevallos, considered the signing of Arroyo confirmed (his last club was Gremio) after signing a sponsorship agreement with the public company CNT. Before that, it was speculated that he would be presented at an event by another sponsor, Cervecería Nacional, where Paraguayan Víctor Ayala and three other Ecuadorian players were introduced.
But so far Arroyo, champion with Barcelona in 2012, has not appeared in the canary environment, which has upset his representative.
"Later on, I will meet with the Barcelona people. If they give up on signing him (Arroyo), they must honor everything that was signed. I am outraged by how the situation has been handled," commented Chamorro.
Barcelona, who welcomed the player on their social media -and then deleted the message- has not issued a statement on the matter, and no director has said that they no longer want him.
