Peru's Paolo Guerrero will go to TAS to be absolved of any guilt
After the ruling of the FIFA Appeals Court, which reduced the captain of the Peruvian national team's suspension from one year to six months, Paolo Guerrero will go to TAS to be absolved of any guilt. His lawyer, Pedro Fida, assured that there are great chances for the Flamengo striker to be cleared of the punishment he received for the adverse analytical result that he had in the anti-doping test against Argentina in the Qualifiers.
"FIFA understood that the positive result was due to contaminated coca mate tea. The reduction of the sanction is a victory, but we believe that the suspension of the penalty they gave him is also possible. We will fight until the last instance," said "Frida a Barrio Futbol".
One of Paolo Guerrero's defense plans is that while the process is ongoing, they will request a precautionary measure from TAS to suspend the punishment. This way, he could play without any problem until the ruling comes out.
"I see it very unlikely that WADA will appeal because our position is well founded and solid. I also do not see TAS being able to increase the suspension request. We have maintained our strategy from the beginning and that is very important," added the lawyer.
On the other hand, Fida also confirmed that if Paolo Guerrero is absolved of all charges, they will seek FIFA to compensate for the sporting and economic damage.
