Lima Municipality paid tribute to Toronto 2015 medalists.

The Peruvian delegation that won medals in the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games continues to receive recognition. This afternoon the athletes were honored by the Municipality of Lima.

In the Lima municipality, Mayor Luis Castañeda Lossio presented the Civic Medal of the City to the medalists.

Francisco Boza (gold in shooting), Gladys Tejeda (gold in marathon), Natalia Cuglievan (gold in skiing), Alexandra Grande (gold in Karate), Thalía Mallqui (silver in wrestling), Raúl Pacheco (silver in athletics), Marko Carrillo (bronze in shooting), among others were the awardees.

Peru won 13 medals, four of them gold, making it the best national performance in the history of the tournament.

In the ceremony, both municipal and sports authorities were present, such as Saúl Barreda, head of IPD, and Luis Salazar, head of COPAL.

"I am proud of the achievements you, the athletes, have obtained and we are happy because we have surpassed a historic performance in the Pan American Games. Never before have we brought such a large number of athletes qualified on their own merit and of them, more than 30 percent are young people who can do much more in Lima 2019. I believe we are at the best moment to write the best sporting future for the country," said Barreda in the speech.
