Tour de France director hopes for quick resolution in Froome case

Christian Prudhomme, director of the Tour de France, hopes that the case of Chris Froome, who tested positive for salbutamol during a control in the last Vuelta a España, is resolved as soon as possible. "We want the situation to be clarified and to come out of the darkness and ambiguity. We want the investigation to be carried out and not to last for months and months in order to have a response from the UCI as soon as possible for the next season", declared the Frenchman on France Info TV.

Due to the fact that salbutamol is not a prohibited substance, but can be used within certain limits that Froome exceeded twofold in the control of the Vuelta, the British cyclist has not been provisionally suspended and has more room to defend himself. "Salbutamol is not a prohibited substance, but the amount that is taken does matter. That's why there will be a legal battle between experts", Prudhomme predicts. That legal battle could prolong the process. Just what the boss of the Grande Boucle does not want to happen.
