Paolo Guerrero seeks reduction in FIFA suspension

Paolo Guerrero will do everything possible to have his one-year suspension imposed by FIFA reduced. The Peruvian insists he is innocent, but he must prove it to the Appeals Committee of the world soccer's governing body.

Guerrero has added a new lawyer to his team to achieve this goal. The lawyer is Spanish Juan de Dios Crespo, an expert in sports law known for some successful cases. For example, in 2017 he helped Lionel Messi.

Crespo managed to have Messi's four-match ban imposed for allegedly insulting a linesman reduced by FIFA. Thanks to this, Messi played the last matches of the World Cup qualifiers and helped Argentina qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Juan de Dios Crespo was also hired a few years ago by Universitario de Deportes for the Andy Polo case. At that time, the lawyer and the club managed to make the Italian team Genoa pay $1.4 million.
