Steelers' linebacker Ryan Shazier undergoes spinal surgery
The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Wednesday night that linebacker Ryan Shazier underwent surgery to stabilize his spine.
The NFL team said on Thursday that Dr. David Okonkwo and Dr. Joseph Maroon performed the surgery after Shazier was transferred from a hospital in Cincinnati to one in Pittsburgh.
Shazier, 25, got injured on Monday while tackling Josh Malone in the Steelers' 23-20 victory over the Bengals. Shazier immediately grabbed his lower back after falling to the ground and was taken off the field on a stretcher.
The team did not provide any further details on Shazier's condition.
