The 'Poets' lost 0-1 to Deportivo Hualgayoc in the last match of the second division tournament amidst controversy over corruption allegations.

Controversy in the final stretch

Just hours before the last game of UCV, the Professional Football Sports Association (ADFP) decided not to recognize any team as the champion of the second division tournament.

They announced that the trophy presentation will be postponed until the Justice Commission pronounces on the corruption allegations against Universidad César Vallejo. As we know, accusations of bribery attempts and match-fixing arose from the 'Poeta' leadership.

Claim from the Boys

Days before, Sport Boys expressed their demand for prompt responses from the authorities of the promotion championship. They asked not to damage the image of Peruvian football any further.

Today is the last day of the second division, in which UCV is leading with 57 points, tied with the rosados, but they will not play today because they have completed their matches. If UCV wins or draws, no other team could challenge them for the title.

Rejected from Trujillo

Meanwhile, UCV sports club also expressed their rejection of ADFP's statement. They expressed their dissatisfaction with the decision made by the second division leaders.

"We will not allow the ADFP-SD to issue a statement indicating that Vallejo will not be declared champion, just hours before the end of the championship, if there is a positive result in Hualgayoc," they stated on their social media just minutes after the ADFP's pronouncement was published.
