Great wrestlers from WWE

After being in the company for many years, many great wrestlers from WWE have left to other companies to have a different focus in their careers. Cases like Rey Mysterio, Kurt Angle, Cody Rhodes or Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy, known as The Hardy Boyz, whom I want to talk about in this article.

Both wrestlers debuted as a team in 1998 in WWE, after a stint in the independents from 1993 to 1998. In WWE, after their debut, they didn't have an important role. However, their careers took off after winning the WWE World Tag Team Championship for the first time in 1999, against The Acolytes.

The addition of Lita to the group made them even more popular. In 2003, WWE released Jeff Hardy, so the team broke up and Matt Hardy started his career as a singles wrestler, achieving various championships and doing great work in the mid-card of the company.

In 2005, he was released. In 2006, with both of them having returned to the company, the team reunited and stayed together for 3 years. In 2009, Jeff Hardy's departure would end the team in WWE after 8 years. Matt Hardy continued in the company until his departure in 2011. Until that year, they had been 7-time WWE Tag Team Champions, and both held individual titles.

After working on the independent circuit, both were signed by TNA, where they became 2-time Tag Team Champions. In both companies, the brothers had rivalries with each other. After winning championships as a team in various independent promotions, they left TNA in 2017 and returned at WrestleMania 33, winning the Raw Tag Team Championship, marking their eighth reign as champions in WWE.

As seen after their return, the team had great support from the audience, but that has shown that the company has given them a job with little development of their characters. Being two legends like they are, they have not had prominence on the microphone and their performances have been based on the matches, which have been good on many occasions.

After losing the titles, their careers have remained stagnant and they haven't had major rivalries. In my opinion, the work that WWE has done with them has not been good for what the team represents. It's good that the company has rehired them, but the creative team has failed to give them the status they have and had, not only in WWE, but also in other companies.

Therefore, it is evident that the team needs to have a better performance in the company, either with interesting rivalries or by challenging for championships, whether as a team or individually. Jeff Hardy's injury has left Raw without one of the best teams in WWE, but Matt Hardy's solo work could also be handled in a better way. The transition to young wrestlers is something that veterans like them should do, but with few established teams, WWE needs both wrestlers for the tag team division to be good.
