River Plate arrives in Monterrey for the Copa Libertadores final

On Monday, River Plate arrived in Monterrey, where they will face the Tigres from UANL on Wednesday in the first leg of the 2015 Copa Libertadores final. This will also be the third encounter between the two teams in this edition of the South American tournament, as they shared a group in the first round, with both matches ending in a draw (1-1 in Argentina and 2-2 in Mexico).

The coach of the Argentine club, Marcelo Gallardo, has a single doubt in the left sector of the midfield to form his starting lineup, with three candidates: Luis González, Gonzalo Martínez, and Uruguayan Tabaré Viudez.

To solve this doubt, the River coaching staff will wait for the last training session in Mexican territory, with the return of Leonardo Ponzio after serving his suspension in the second leg of the semifinals against Guaraní from Paraguay.

Therefore, the Argentine team will line up for the first leg of the final in Monterrey with Marcelo Barovero in goal; Gabriel Mercado, Jonatan Maidana, Ramiro Funes Mori, and Leonel Vangioni in defense; Carlos Sánchez, Matías Kranevitter, Ponzio, and Luis González or Gonzalo Martínez or Tabaré Viudez in midfield; and Rodrigo Mora and Lucas Alario in attack.

River Plate comes into this match after a 3-1 victory against Colón in the eighteenth round of the Argentine league, placing them second, three points behind the leader, Boca Juniors. Meanwhile, the Tigres come into this match with a 1-0 defeat against Toluca in the start of the Mexican league.
