In Chile, candidates continue to look for the new coach of 'La Roja'
Chile continues to add candidates in search of finding the coach that can wear the 'La Roja' jersey in replacement of Juan Antonio Pizzi. In addition to known candidates such as Manuel Pellegrini and 'Tata' Martino, the Colombian Reinaldo Rueda, current coach of Flamengo with Paolo Guerrero and Miguel Trauco, has joined the race.
Champion of the Copa Libertadores with Atletico Nacional in 2016, Rueda also has experience coaching national teams: he led Honduras to South Africa 2010 and Ecuador to Brazil 2014, fitting the profile of an experienced coach that Chile is looking for. However, the Chilean national team is currently a challenging situation, with fights even among the players themselves, which makes coaches think twice about taking on the position. Rueda responded to this possibility.
"It is a great honor to have my name mentioned for that possibility. We know that now is a time for evaluation of all national teams and for sure there will be no rush for any changes or decisions," Rueda emphasized in a dialogue with the Chilean media ADN. He also admitted that his current interest is with Flamengo: "They know that I am committed, that I have a contract, and that I have hope with Flamengo." However, the Colombian coach revealed that "this situation had already appeared before, at some point they approached me." Reinaldo Rueda has a valid contract with Flamengo until the end of 2018, with the team sitting in seventh place in the Brasileirao with 43 points, and is also fighting in the Copa Sudamericana, where they will play the quarterfinals against Fluminense next Wednesday.
