Mark Beaumont sets new world record for cycling around the world

Mark Beaumont, a 34-year-old Scottish cyclist, completed his journey around the world in 78 days on Monday as he arrived in Paris, where he had departed on July 2. He established a new world record.

The adventurer crossed the Arc de Triomphe in the French capital at around 7:00 p.m. local time.

In total, Beaumont completed the challenge in 78 days, 14 hours, and 14 minutes, according to the Guinness World Records book.

During his 30,000 kilometers, the record-holder cycled across Asia, Europe, North America - from Halifax in the east to Anchorage in the west - and the entire southern coast of Australia - from Perth to Auckland.

The British cyclist shattered the previous record set by New Zealander Andrew Nicholson in 2015, who took 123 days.
