Bolivia faces Chile today Tuesday (15:00 hours) for the antepenultimate round of the World Cup 2018 qualifiers, in order to ruin the party for a Red team that desperately tries to recover lost points to stay in the direct qualification zone.

The Andean team is out of any possibility of reaching the next football world cup: in second-to-last position on the table with 10 points in 15 matches, but the match against Chile has a taste of revenge.

Chile is the country that presented a complaint against FIFA after the eighth round, in which they drew in Santiago with Bolivia, due to the irregular habilitation of the naturalized Paraguayan Bolivian Nelson Cabrera, to which Peru joined the complaint, who had lost a match in La Paz prior to that.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS) confirmed last week the ruling that deducts four points from Bolivia.

That is why the Bolivians, with their eyes set on Qatar 2022, do not want to miss the opportunity to get a home victory and ruin the party for the last champions of America.

Nevertheless, they know that the Chileans are preparing in the city of Calama, to the north of Santiago and 2,400 meters above sea level, to feel the effects of the altitude of the Hernando Siles stadium in La Paz to a lesser extent.

The Bolivians will use an offensive scheme and players more accustomed to the altitude of La Paz, such as midfielder Alejandro Chumacero and forwards Pablo Escobar and Juan Carlos Arce.

- Chile, a wounded team -

Chile licks its wounds in the altitude of Calama after its unexpected 3-0 defeat against Paraguay in Santiago last week, as they took for granted a victory that would have kept them more securely in the qualification zone.

After the match against Paraguay, the Red team is in fourth place with 23 points, tied with Argentina, but with a goal difference in favor of the Chileans.

Their open-door training sessions have allowed them to gain popularity, while it is confirmed that for their match in La Paz they will not have defender Gonzalo Jara (Universidad de Chile) and midfielder Charles Aránguiz (Bayer Leverkusen/Germany), both suspended.

Despite the alarms in Chile, their Spanish-Argentine coach Juan Antonio Pizzi has tried to downplay the situation.

In the qualifying matches between the two countries in La Paz, the numbers favor the Chileans.

Chile won their matches for Germany 2006, South Africa 2010 and Brazil 2014. In all three matches the result was the same: 2-0. Bolivia won 1-0 in a previous qualifying round for South Korea and Japan 2002.
