Chris Weidman submits Kelvin Gastelum at UFC on Fox 25
American fighter Chris Weidman submitted his fellow countryman Kelvin Gastelum in the third round of the main event of UFC on Fox 25, in the middleweight division (185 lbs).
In the first round, Weidman, a former UFC middleweight champion, took Gastelum down and attempted a submission, but without success.
Towards the end of the round, Gastelum landed a solid punch on Chris Weidman's face and had him in trouble, but the bell prevented him from continuing to punish him.
Weidman, with a clear advantage in reach and weight, dominated Gastelum in the clinch in the second round. In the end, he managed to take down his opponent again and punish him, although without landing any dangerous strikes.
In the third round, Gastelum came out swinging and after an exchange, he fell to the canvas, but managed to recover. The former UFC champion took him down again and locked in an arm triangle choke from which his opponent couldn't escape.
With this victory, Chris Weidman gets back on the winning track in the UFC after a three-fight losing streak. His professional record is now 14 wins and 3 losses.
