Spanish Tennis Player Garbiñe Muguruza Wins Wimbledon Title

Spanish tennis player Garbiñe Muguruza took advantage of Serena Williams' absence to defeat her sister Venus in the final and win her first Wimbledon title and second Grand Slam tournament.

Muguruza defeated the American player with a score of 7-5 and 6-0. She also became the first player to defeat both Williams sisters in Grand Slam finals, as she previously defeated Serena at Roland Garros in 2016.

Williams had two opportunities to win the set with a 5-4 lead, but Muguruza frustrated her after a long exchange of shots, and from that moment, the momentum switched. In the following game, the Spanish player took advantage of two break points and broke Williams' serve.

This marked the beginning of nine consecutive games won by Muguruza, who soared to victory and earned £2.2 million (€2.5 million, $2.9 million) in prize money.

"Muguruza played really well. She played at a high level, and I have to give her credit," Venus stated.
