Puerto Rican team arrived at the Grand Prix as one of the favorites to move up to Group 1 of the international tournament, a spot they narrowly missed last year when the Dominican Republic secured promotion, leaving them out of the final.

The Peruvian team is participating in Group 2 of the Grand Prix as one of the teams promoted from Group 3 to fill the vacancies created with the expansion from eight to twelve teams in this category.

Colombia, who is in Group 2 this year to fill the spot vacated by Kenya due to financial reasons, has accumulated their second defeat and will say goodbye tomorrow with a match against Puerto Rico.

After the matches played at the Coliseo Cerrado in Chiclayo, Colombia will play in Kazakhstan the following week, the Peruvian team will play in Poland, and Puerto Rico will host Bulgaria, Canada, and the Czech Republic once again in San Juan.
