Chris Jericho's second reign as United States Champion was short-lived as Kevin Owens took the title from him.
Jericho was welcomed to SmackDown by the commissioner, along with AJ Styles who threatened to take the United States Championship from him if he defended it that night against Kevin Owens. It was Owens who appeared in the ring and provoked both wrestlers, but it was Styles who ended up in a brawl with him.
Later, the rematch for the belt took place, with the former friends clashing in an intense match. After several minutes of action, Kevin Owens delivered a DDT on the floor. Although Y2J almost secured the victory with a roll-up, Owens escaped and hit a powerful Pop-Up Powerbomb to win the match.
But Owens didn't stop there, as he continued his attack even after regaining the championship title. He even hit Jericho with a chair.
On the other hand, Shane McMahon reclaimed the WWE Championship that Jinder Mahal had stolen from Randy Orton, and then challenged Sami Zayn to a match for the title. Despite suffering throughout the match, Mahal managed to win with the help of the Singh Brothers.
In addition, Carmella, Natalya, and Tamina attacked Charlotte before her match, causing Naomi to have to fight alone for several minutes in what was originally a tag team match. Although Flair's daughter returned to the ring, she couldn't do anything to prevent Carmella and Natalya from taking the victory. After the match, Becky Lynch seemed to align herself with the three wrestlers, but ended up attacking them.
In other results, Tye Dillinger defeated Aiden English, while Dolph Ziggler beat Sin Cara.
